What is the BA Speaker Series?

The BA Speakers Series hosts PhDs that have transitioned to non-academic careers and experts that help PhDs in this process. Each day of the series we will have a speaker from a different field who will give their insights on transitioning out of academia, what it is like to work in their field of expertise and strategies for building transferable skills such as networking. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions to these experts as part of an informal discussion during this event. Details below.

Speaker Bio:

Sophia Quach McCabe is Academic Coordinator at the Art, Design & Architecture Museum at UC Santa Barbara. She holds a Ph.D. in History of Art and Architecture from UC Santa Barbara, an M.A. in Art History from Temple University, and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Ohio State University. Sophia’s awards include fellowships and grants from the German-American Fulbright Commission, the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, the Albert and Elaine Borchard Foundation, and the J. Paul Getty Foundation. She is published in her specialties of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century art, cultural exchanges, and art and merchant networks between Germany and Italy. As an art historian with a background in engineering and marketing, Sophia continues to draw from her diverse experiences in her career.
